Now juxtaposed to this quote that kakimari had found:

“video games should not be changed dramatically just because females want to be superior. Understand your place as equals to men”

Which is what has been spewed all day to counter the women in the game industry trend on twitter that has been going around the past 24 hours or so. Andres had summed up these neckbearded comments pretty well as “Sexism won’t go away if you keep talking about it you stupid sluts!” (note, he didn’t say this he’s making a hyperbole of these young white gamer boys feeling threatened by women asking for equal treatment in the community and industry)

what you fail to realize is that video games shouldn’t cater to females in the first place. It’s largely known that it’s targeted towards the MALE demographic and has been for so many years, so why would they ask for something like that to be handed to them on a goddamn silver platter?

that’s like a guy walking into the women’s department of clothing at a sears and demanding that there be more clothing for men there. Separation of sections be damned.

Okay, so apparently my dash is on a mission to piss me off, and buddy, you have pushed me over my damn edge.

Listen up you neckbearded douche fuck: Yeah, games are CURRENTLY geared toward men. You wanna know why? Because up until recently, most women were discouraged from entering tech fields. Why is this? Sexism. Fucking men thinking women can’t be tech/science minded. Even my fucking generation. So this leads to an oversaturation of asshats like yourself running things.

Women try to get into games, and they get rape threats, told to “get back in the kitchen”, asked for “tits or GTFO”, told they don’t belong, along with a slew of other shit. We’re discouraged from going into these fields, because male gamer shit flecks like yourself don’t want us there, edge us out, shout us down, ignore us, treat us all like shit. THE FUCKING PROBLEM HERE IS YOU, COCK FERRET.

Now, guess what? As someone who used to get shit for being a “girl gamer” (and goddamnit I FUCKING HATE THAT TERM) I used to get shit. Now, I like games like FPS’s, OTS shooters, MMOs, I used to go to fucking LAN parties in college. All I ever wanted , and all I want is, a non-sexualized fucking female leads in games. Not some chick dressed in skimpy ass armor when male characters get full body coverage, not some fucking abomination with Barbie proportions. I just want a fucking realistic character that isn’t fucking eye candy.

And before you say a goddamned word about how “But men aren’t painted as realistic with regards to their body structure!” I refer you to CoD, Spiderman, and any other number of games where their body structure is that of an average fit guy. Their waists aren’t unrealistically portrayed as super thin, nor are their shoulders unrealistically large. Bioshock, Fallout, Medal of Honor, and the above mentioned games, along with a shitton more: Pretty average bodies. That’s all fucking some of us want: To not be fucking sexpots you goddamned dense shit.

Also, the fucking women in games sometimes end up being in some sort of mortal fucking danger, a’la Lara Croft and that god awful proposed rape scene. Either that, or they’re portrayed as needing help, constantly. They sometimes get lower stats because they’re female. In fact, the only games I can think of where the women don’t get into this shit are SOME of the Resident Evil titles, and Chell in Portal, who never even fucking SPEAKS.

Other than that? We’re villainesses, painted as using our bodies to fuck with the male leads’ heads, manipulate them, and then summarily get our asses kicked all over. SO WHY IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR MORE BADASS WOMEN WHO ARE REALISTIC?

How’s that asking for everything on a goddamned platter, you fuckwit asshole? DEMANDING EQUAL REPRESENTATION IS NOT ASKING FOR IT TO BE GEARED TOWARD US! IT’S ASKING FOR SHIT WE CAN PLAY WITHOUT BEING EITHER AN OBJECT FOR YOU TO OGLE, SAVE OR SEEING SOMETHING THAT WE CAN NEVER FUCKING BE. IT’S ASKING FOR EQUALITY INSTEAD OF NEVER SEEING OURSELVES UNLESS WE’RE A GODDAMNED TROPE!

SO SHUT YOUR IGNORANT ASS UP, GO FUCK YOURSELF WITH A CONCERTINA WIRE COVERED BASEBALL BAT, AND FUCK THE ENTIRE HELL OFF, YOU GODDAMNED MISOGYNISTIC PIECE OF SHIT!

Dear god. And people wonder what is wrong in the industry.

I recall reading somewhere that women used to dominate the computer programming industry, because hardware was seen as the man’s domain since women wouldn’t be able to handle mechanical parts, and so they were limited to software, but when men realize just how important software is for computing, they suddenly began phasing out women because suddenly, women who had been doing all the computing all this while suddenly weren’t good enough. 

And that Sears analogy doesn’t even work unless you think videogames are a singularly gendered thing, which tells us more about what you think about gender than anything else. 

omg yes this ^^^^ During WWii there were only a handful of male computer programmers because it was ‘women’s work’. Now their names are the ONLY ones that show up.
